King Midas is a buoyant retelling of the classic Greek myth, filled with tuneful melodies and magic, designed for ages 6-10 and their families. Children will laugh as the foolish King Midas judges a musical contest between the god Apollo and a tone-deaf satyr; and they will “ooh” and “ahh” as everything King Midas touches turns into gold. The script uses the simplest of stagecraft to create a truly theatrical magical experience, which will please old and young viewers alike. The show is approximately 45 minutes long, and features a cast of 5, including King Midas, his daughter Marigold, and the three Fates who take on all of the smaller roles. There are only two sets, making this show ideal for touring to schools. Appropriate for all ages. |

King Midas was commissioned by the 40-year-old Schenectady Theater for Children for their 2007 season. It toured to over 30 elementary schools in upstate NY. Some quotes from the audience... "I have been a teacher for 34 years, and this is the best children’s production I have seen." "That play was the awesomest!"
