In Late-Victorian England, Morris Finsbury desperately schemes to keep his elderly Uncle Joseph alive to a win an investment scheme known as a 'tontine,' in which the last surviving investor collects all. Despite Morris's careful watch over his "dear uncle", the Bournemouth Express crashes and Uncle Joseph is presumed dead. As Morris attempts to cover up the loss, family members feud and a mysterious corpse winds up in the most unlikely places. The cast has several strong male lead roles, 1-2 strong female roles, and chorus. Multiple sets, featuring a train car. Perfect for high schools and community groups. MEN: 6-7 Leads; 3-10 chorus WOMEN: 1-2 Lead; 3-10 chorus Instrumentation Currently scored for piano and voice. First performed with violin, guitar and piano. Can be arranged for available instruments. Production History The Wrong Box was first performed at Union College in Schenectady, NY, November 2002, by the Union College Mountebanks.
